MDI( 墨尓本国际发展研究院 ) 近期正在管理执行一个为期五年 , 价值 2100 万澳元的双边援助项目 – 即在中国新疆维吾尔自治区的 ” 中澳新疆艾滋病防治关注项目 ”. 以新疆 2001-2010 年的中长期发展规划为蓝本 , 该项目旨在帮助新疆自治区政府达到他们的目标 --- 减少艾滋病的传播和艾滋病流行对该地区社会经济造成的影响 . 通过多个领域的创新防治及关注程序 , 不断增强该地区对艾滋病流行的反应能力 , 这个目标正在得到实现 .

In China, GRM’s work is conducted through two organisations - Austrex Beijing and the Melbourne Development Institute (MDI) International, both being wholly-owned subsidiary of the GRM Group.

Austrex (Australian Rural Exports Pty Ltd) has exported more than 60,000 dairy cattle and about 1500 meat sheep from Australia and New Zealand to China since striking a deal in 2002 to supply dairy cattle to meet the country's increasing demand. In November 2004, Austrex opened its Beijing office from which it is further expanding its China operations to include provision of other livestock, meat, genetic products, dairy ingredients and grains. Austrex has been also working closely together with Australian Angus Society to promote Australian Angus cattle to China market in recent years. MDI is currently managing and implementing a five-year AUD 21 million bilateral aid project called the China-Australia Xinjiang HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Project in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China. Guided by the Xinjiang Medium to Long-term Plan 2001-2010, the project seeks to support the Xinjiang government in meeting its goal of reducing the transmission of HIV and the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on the social and economic development of the region. This is being achieved through increasing the region’s capacity to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with innovative multi-sectoral prevention and care programs.
