One hundred and fifty secondary and vocational teachers in the country are upgrading their skills through the Teacher Quality Upgrade Program (TQUP) with Divine Word University.
The Department of Education project, which was previously conducted by the University of Goroka, has come under the DWU banner after winning the tender through its consultancy company Diwai Pacific Ltd.
The program began two weeks ago and is conducted at four locations - Madang, Port Moresby, Mount Hagen and Kimbe.
Vice president (Academic) of DWU Brother Andrew Simpson, said the University was identified by the Department of Education to deliver high quality teacher qualification to non-trained teachers through its faculty of Education.
He said the program is designed to assist non-trained teachers with certificates, diplomas and first degrees in other fields.
