Project Purpose/Outcomes :

Specific objective of the project (intended effects)
The Project specific objective is; to improve both the quantitative and qualitative teaching capacity whilst simultaneously improving the learning system of the undergraduate programmes at the two veterinary faculties.
The specific project objective was divided into four results in the original project outline, which need to be achieved at the end of the implementation of the project. These four results have been set out below.

Results of the project (planned outputs)
In the original project outline four major results were identified to be achieved at the end of the project. During the inception phase of the project, results 2 and 3 were combined into one (now referred to as result/output 2/3). The amended results are:

R 1:        Fifteen MSc Staff trained in technical subjects relevant to the faculty (pedagogy and didactics of the subject area requested to be provided alongside the MSc study). All of the 15 MSc candidate staff will be trained in Malaysia.
In addition, 2 staff members from Haramaya Veterinary Faculty receive short-term training in technical subjects in Europe and/or South Africa.
R 2/3      Teaching quality improved for undergraduate level in the two universities through short-term assignments by European experts.
12 teaching modules designed to support areas of the undergraduate curricula delivered by short-term experts and selected local staff able to implement these teaching modules.
R 4         Faculties (better) equipped with library and other pedagogical support and equipment (e.g. books, laboratory materials for practical teaching, ICT and teaching aids).

Achievements :

By July 2007, all 15 staff members of the Ethiopian universities have started their MSc training at Putra university in Malaysia.

4 staff members of Haramaya University have received ST training.

By August 2008, 6 of the 12 modules have been delivered.

By April 2008, 1 shipment of books and 1 shipment of laboratory equipment have been delivered.
