Rural Development
GRM provides a wide range of services to the Rural Development sector globally and has been particularly successful in implementing sustainable participatory development programs adopting an approach based on stakeholder involvement, skills transfer and mentoring to support institutional change.
Effective agricultural practices reduce world poverty by increasing opportunities for the poor to generate income for themselves. The majority of the world’s poor live in rural areas and they are highly dependent on natural resources for their livelihoods. In order to improve their standard of living, it is essential to achieve sustainable management of these resources. Many activities undertaken by GRM are designed to promote sustainable resource management. A strong rural economy built on improved agricultural productivity and supported by appropriate policy will boost national economic growth and reduce poverty.
GRM has effectively managed rural development projects involving:
- Agriculture, forestry and fisheries
- Sustainable livelihoods
- Agriculture sector and policy development
- Livestock
- Natural resource management
