One of the first recipients of a GRM Communities 1st Initiative grant was the NGO Zagrljaj, meaning "Embrace" in Serb.
Zagrljaj used the grant to run a hobby art workshop for people with disabilities in the city of Topola, Serbia.
The workshop was run by volunteers who aimed to provide a warm and caring environment for the participants, who were otherwise largely excluded from the community.
The workshop produced a range of arts and crafts including greeting cards, paintings, decorative glassware and ceramics, much of which was sold at handicrafts fairs, providing a valuable source of income for the organisation.
