After graduating from the University of Nottingham, UK with a Masters Degree at distinction level in Environmental Management, Charley spent almost three years working on a variety of projects in Lao PDR. She worked on an Asian Development Bank TA for a Rural Finance Development project as Manager of the National Survey for Rural and Microfinance Services, responsible for logistics; the design and implementation survey of NGOs and Microfinance Institutions; and the coordination of consultant inputs and report production. Other key assignments included the implementation of an environmental and social impact assessment of a cement plant development in rural Central Laos, on behalf of a private client, and the role of General Manager of an ecotourism company.
Charley joined GRM’s Young Professionals Programme in April 2006. She is based in GRM’s Dubai office, and is currently responsible for coordination of Middle East and North Africa region projects and studies which focus on livestock and agricultural development in development and commercial sectors.
“I have had an interest in working in the field of development since working as a teacher in Jinja, Uganda, before University. In a notoriously difficult sector to enter, GRM’s Young Professionals Program offers young people experience and training in project/financial management, and provides a platform for development of technical skills to contribute to a wide range of projects,” Charley said.
