Kate Michelly joined the Effective Development Group (EDG) in February 2005, after completing her Masters in International Affairs at the Australian National University. In 2001 she completed her BA English majoring in Journalism at Curtin University of Technology, whilst working for various community and commercial radio stations and the Perth Independent newspaper.
Before joining EDG, Kate worked as Program Manager for the National Institute for Asia and the Pacific and the ANU. She also conducted a short term consultancy as a Research Assistance for AusAID’s Office of Review and Evaluation and an internship with the Public Information office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
Kate’s experience at EDG enabled her to work closely with professional and dedicated staff with specialist knowledge in Monitoring and Evaluation. In her current position with GRM she has been able to build on this knowledge with hands-on experience in business development and project management through GRM’s joint venture, the Sustainable Tourism Development Consortium.
“My experiences with EDG and GRM have given me the opportunity to gain an insight into development across a range of diverse sectors and to learn from professionals at the cutting edge of the industry. The Young Professionals Program has offered me a great opportunity to travel and gain an understanding of development practice in a range of settings.”
