GRM Australia Staff Donate Annual Fund-Raiser Proceeds to Queensland Community Fund

Community groups will benefit from $3000 donated to the Queensland Community Fund by GRM Australia staff members.

The money was raised at regular events held by the GRM Social Committee in 2004, including “Dress-Down Fridays” in which staff were encouraged to dress casually and donate a gold coin to charity.

GRM Group Managing Director Kim Bredhauer said it was great to see everyone in the company doing their bit to help communities in Australia and overseas.

“The $3000 raised by the GRM Social Committee for the Queensland Community Fund is a great example of our staff members’ commitment to international and community development both professionally and personally,” Mr Bredhauer said.

“Our staff choose to work at GRM because they are passionate about development and want to create better futures for people around the world. Outside of GRM, many of our staff give their time and skills to non-profit and charity organisations working in the development sector.

“We also encourage staff to nominate non-profit and charity organisations as potential recipients of GRM Development Fund grants.

“The GRM Development Fund was established in 2004 to provide financial assistance to a wide range of worthy causes.

“In 2004 the Fund donated more than $100,000 to six organisations worldwide, including $30,000 to CARE Australia in the wake of the tsunami,” he said.

In 2005 money raised by the GRM Social Committee in Australia will go to ASVIMO, an NGO working in Dondo village, Mozambique, to assist households headed by children and their grandparents. In most cases the children have lost both parents to HIV and live in very poor conditions. ASVIMO gives these households chickens to raise for eggs and meat to sell so they can buy other food to eat.
