Project Purpose/Outcomes :
The focus of Canada’s cooperation programme in South Africa is to strengthen service delivery in the sectors of HIV/AIDS, rural development and government and to support regional cooperation. Gender and environment are both cross-cutting issues. The Canada – South Africa development cooperation programme is responsive to South African needs and priorities and seeks to promote institutional and human capacity development in South Africa. Canada’s development cooperation programme is delivered through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). CIDA’s programme is based on the principles of local ownership and alignment with South African policies and Government programmes. As such, a significant proportion of CIDA projects are managed directly in the field. The PSU will function both as an administrative and programming support unit.
