The Kalimantan Forests and Climate Partnership (KFCP) is a component of the Indonesia-Australia Forest Carbon Partnership (IAFCP) which aims to advance the global effort to tackle climate change and protect the world's forests by reducing deforestation, encouraging reforestation and promoting sustainable forest management in developing countries (REDD). KFCP is the first large-scale demonstration activity under this initiative. the detailed design will be a strategy of interventions to reduce threats to the forest through economic and other incentives linked to sustainable livelihoods.
GRM provided a Forest and Livelihod consultant to provide technical expertise in support of the detailed design of KFCP. The following outputs were delivered:
- a detailed baseline framework which aimed at assessing to what extend REDD could influence household livelihoods
- a fire strategy
- A livelihood profile which included:
+ sources of livelihoods
+ dependency on peat lands
+ issues of tenure uncertainity
- livelihood profiles for targetted villages
